Major Operation in Silifke: Mayor and 7 Suspects Detained

As a result of the comprehensive investigation conducted in Silifke, Mersin, 8 suspects were detained, while 11 suspects were released on judicial control. The investigation, which was launched against Silifke Municipality on charges of 'bribery, corruption, and embezzlement', resulted in the detention of Silifke Mayor Mustafa Turgut. It was learned that some of the detained suspects wanted to benefit from the effective repentance provisions. In the statements of the suspects, it was stated that various benefits were demanded from contractors working with the municipality in exchange for payment of their receivables, money was delivered to some people and officials connected to the municipality, irregularities were committed in some purchases made through direct procurement, and fictitious transactions were carried out in some organization activities related to the municipality.
