A 5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Sichuan Province

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Gaoşien district in Yibin city, Sichuan province, southwest China. According to a statement from the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), the earthquake occurred at a depth of 6 kilometers, with its epicenter in Gaoşien district. There were no reported fatalities, but 13 people were lightly injured and hospitalized. A level 3 emergency response was initiated after the earthquake, and 196 people living in damaged buildings were relocated to temporary shelters.
