Expert Warns of '40-Degree' Heatwave: Eyyam-i Bahur Temperatures Are Coming

As temperatures rise across the country, August is expected to break heat records, exceeding seasonal norms. Meteorology expert Adil Tek stated that August will be hotter than June and July, with temperatures expected to rise above seasonal norms nationwide, based on the last 30 years' statistics. The period known as 'Eyyam-i Bahur', which typically occurs between late July and early August, is expected to bring extremely high temperatures this year as well. Meteorology expert Adil Tek shared August forecasts, saying, 'August will be generally hotter than June and July. Temperatures are expected to rise above seasonal norms nationwide, based on the last 30 years' statistics.' Tek predicted that between 3-10 August, temperatures will spread to the northern regions, with the Aegean, Thrace, southern Inner Anatolia, and Eastern Anatolia experiencing a hot period above their seasonal norms. Tek noted that in Istanbul, temperatures will exceed 30 degrees Celsius, but due to the urban heat island effect, there will be significant differences between regions. 'In the Bosphorus area, temperatures will be around 27-28°C due to the poyraz and sea breezes. However, in areas with low wind, high asphalt, and building density, such as Mecidiyeköy, Fatih, and Kadıköy, temperatures may approach 40°C.'
