New Regulations for Martyr Families and Veterans Become Law

The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) has passed a bill containing new regulations for the rights of martyr families and veterans. This legal arrangement has introduced significant changes to the Turkish Republic Emekli Sandığı Kanunu. According to these changes, the total monthly payment to the parents of all duty-disabled individuals who have lost their lives will be legally guaranteed to be no less than the net amount of the monthly minimum wage. Additionally, the payment made to disabled veterans in need of care has been increased to 2.5 times the net minimum wage. The monthly payments of duty-disabled non-commissioned officers, security guards, students, and civilians have also been increased. The new regulation grants new rights to personnel who were injured during the fight against terrorism but are not considered disabled under current legislation, as well as civilians and public officials who were injured during the July 15 coup attempt. Among the prominent regulations within the adopted law is the provision of a monthly payment to eligible individuals, calculated by multiplying 17,135 by the monthly coefficient of the civil servant's salary. These individuals will be able to benefit from social and personal rights, such as free travel, electricity, and water usage discounts, excluding monthly provisions, as provided to veteran warriors under Law No. 1005. Public officials and civilians who were injured while helping to suppress the July 15 coup attempt and subsequent actions, but were not considered disabled or did not undergo degree determination, will also receive a monthly payment based on the multiplication of 17,135 by the monthly coefficient of the civil servant's salary. This regulation will be applied once for events that occurred before the law comes into effect.
