Tragedy in San Francisco Bay: Boat Sinks Near Alcatraz Island

A boat carrying 19 people sank in San Francisco Bay, near Alcatraz Island, resulting in 1 death and 2 missing persons. The US Coast Guard, fire department, and police are conducting search and rescue operations from the air and sea. 16 people were rescued, and a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched to locate the two missing passengers. According to officials, the three-story boat, classified as a "pontoon pleasure boat", began taking on water for unknown reasons about 550 meters from Alcatraz Island. When the first response teams arrived, they found that most of the boat was underwater, its engine still running, with a fuel leak and exhaust gas still emanating from the operating engine. The rescue teams applied CPR to a person in critical condition upon arrival.
