Poet and Teacher Ahmet Telli Passed Away

Prominent Turkish poet and teacher Ahmet Telli has passed away at the age of 79. Telli, who had been undergoing treatment at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital for some time, was intubated on July 8.The poet's passing was announced through social media posts. Details regarding the funeral ceremony are expected to be announced later.Born in 1946 in the Eskipazar district of Çankırı, Ahmet Telli was one of the important poets representing the social and modern vein of Turkish poetry. Graduating from Ankara University's Faculty of Educational Sciences, Telli worked as a teacher for many years.From the 1970s onwards, he established a strong literary line by publishing poems that particularly dealt with social memory, the quest for freedom, love, loneliness, and resistance.
