Fake MIT Agents Use Justice Minister's Name: $5 Million Scam

Scammers posing as MIT agents used Justice Minister Akın Gürlek's name to swindle $5 million from an individual on trial for murder. The scammers claimed to have close ties with high-ranking government officials to gain the trust of their victims.An operation in Istanbul resulted in the detention of three suspects. It was discovered that the suspects attempted to gain the trust of their victims by claiming to have close relationships with high-ranking government officials.One of the individuals targeted by the suspects was identified as Halil İbrahim Çubuk. The suspects claimed they could remove Çubuk's son, who is on trial for murder, from the case files.An investigation by the prosecutor's office found that the suspects received $100,000 and 100,000 TL from the victim in exchange for their promises.
