The US Senate has moved a new bill that includes comprehensive tariffs and banking sanctions against Russia to the discussion phase, but has not yet reached an agreement on the timeline and process of the bill.In the first procedural vote in the Senate, the bill was approved with 86 votes to 12. However, Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee emphasized that there is currently no agreement on when the sanctions package will be put to a final vote and how the process will proceed. The bill was prepared with the participation of several senators, including Senator Lindsey Graham. The bill proposes a 100% customs duty on the five largest buyers of Russian energy resources. The text provides exemptions for countries with less than 15% of Russia's annual natural gas exports. However, the 500% tariff on direct imports from Russia to the US remains in place.
