European Gymnastics Union's Decision on Russia: Removal of Flag and Anthem Ban

The European Gymnastics Union's Extraordinary General Assembly officially approved the participation of Russian athletes in competitions under their own flag and national anthem.According to the statement from the Russian Gymnastics Federation, this decision brought the European Gymnastics Union's rules in line with the current practices of the World Gymnastics Federation.The World Gymnastics Executive Committee had taken a similar step on May 17. As per the decision, a 'transition period' procedure will be applied to European organizations approved before July 28. Russian athletes will be allowed to participate in competitions, but there may be restrictions on the display of state symbols if the laws or mandatory regulations of the host country require it.
