In Russia, a Russian citizen has been identified as working for New Zealand intelligence for financial gain and has been detained as part of a Russian intelligence operation.
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that a resident of Habarovsk, a Russian citizen, had contacted the New Zealand Security and Intelligence Service on his own initiative and was engaged in espionage activities.
According to the FSB, the suspect provided information that could be used against Russia's security to the New Zealand intelligence, which was particularly interested in obtaining information on military and military-technical cooperation with countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
