Russia Warns NATO Over Nuclear Policies: Increases Risk of Nuclear Conflict

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Gennadiy Gatilov, criticized NATO for including its non-nuclear member states in its nuclear deterrence plans, stating that this increases the risk of direct conflict between nuclear states and inflicts irreparable damage on the global nuclear disarmament regime.Gatilov emphasized that countries like Finland and Poland are now effectively part of NATO’s nuclear missions and provide capacity for supportive operations in the alliance's nuclear planning.Russia criticized NATO's nuclear policies, stating that these steps endanger global security.Gatilov noted, “This irresponsible nuclear policy inflicts irreparable damage on the global regime for preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons. More importantly, it significantly escalates strategic risks, including the possibility of direct conflict between nuclear states.”
