Russia Develops 'Spider Web' System to Protect Critical Infrastructure

Russia is expanding its defense measures to protect critical infrastructure facilities that have been targeted during the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
Rostec, a Russian state defense industrial company, has developed a new defense system called 'Pautina' ('Spider Web') to protect critical industrial and energy facilities from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The company has begun testing the system at some fuel and energy facilities in the country.
The 'Pautina' system is designed to counter heavy UAVs and aims to provide security for strategic points. The system consists of heavy metal grids that are resistant to corrosion and are galvanized, assembled using bolts without welding.
The structure, built with special carrier columns, supports, and a porous construction, captures and neutralizes kamikaze and attack UAVs heading towards target facilities, preventing them from exploding or reaching their targets.
The system is designed to stop even the heaviest UAVs, weighing around 200 kilograms, and can be easily adapted to buildings over 25 meters high and horizontal areas of any size.
