Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov Accuses Ukraine of Interfering in African Conflicts

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made significant statements during his visit to Burundi, where the two countries agreed to deepen their ties. Lavrov accused Ukrainians of taking part in various conflicts in Africa, siding with forces against legitimate governments. In his statement, Lavrov emphasized that Ukrainians are involved in African conflicts, supporting forces that oppose legitimate governments. Citing the Democratic Republic of Congo as an example, Lavrov noted that the legitimate government in the country is fighting against the M23 rebel group, which is supported by external factors. Lavrov underlined that the economic dimension of bilateral relations was prioritized during the talks, with a focus on expanding and deepening trade, economic, and investment ties. He stated that Russian companies plan to undertake hydroelectric and nuclear energy projects in Burundi, and that an agreement has been signed for cooperation in small nuclear power plant projects.
