Russian Athletics Federation: We cannot establish a dialogue with World Athletics, we are applying to CAS

The Executive Director of the Russian Athletics Federation, Boris Yarishévskiy, stated that they could not establish a constructive dialogue with World Athletics and are taking the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.Speaking at a press conference before a athletics championship in Yekaterinburg, Russia, Yarishévskiy emphasized that the return of Russian athletes to the international arena is their top priority. He noted that negotiations have been ongoing since 2025, but they have not seen a constructive approach from the other side. "The Russian Athletics Federation is actively working to establish a dialogue, and our top priority is the return of our athletes to the international arena," he said.Yarishévskiy described the decisions of World Athletics as political and discriminatory, stating that they do not comply with the Olympic Charter. The Russian official added that despite the issue being brought to the international agenda, it ended with a negative outcome, and therefore they applied to CAS in early July.
