Russian Boxers Allowed to Participate in International Tournaments with National Flag and Anthem

The International Boxing Federation (World Boxing) has given the green light for Russian boxers to participate in all international tournaments under the Russian flag and national anthem. This decision was announced by Russian Sports Minister and President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROK) Mikhail Degtyarev on his Telegram account.The path is now clear for Russian boxers to compete in international tournaments.

Russian boxing is returning to the world stage. World Boxing has accepted our athletes from all age categories to participate in all international competitions under our national flag and anthem.

The World Boxing Executive Committee had approved the membership application of the Russian Boxing Federation in March and granted Russian and Belarusian athletes the right to participate in competitions in a neutral status in April. World Boxing was established in 2023 as an alternative to the International Boxing Association (IBA), with Russian sports manager Umar Kremlev at its helm. It has been decided that the boxing competitions at the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics will be held under the auspices of World Boxing.The Russian Boxing Federation was accepted as a member of World Boxing at the beginning of 2026. The restoration of normal sports relations was discussed during a meeting between World Boxing President and President of the Kazakh National Olympic Committee Gennadiy Golovkin in Tashkent in January 2026.
