Putin Meets with New Human Rights Commissioner Lantratova
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the new Human Rights Commissioner, Yana Lantratova, at the Kremlin Palace. Following the meeting, Lantratova stated that the residents of Kursk who were being held in Ukraine have returned home and that a response has been received from the United Nations regarding the situation in Starobelsk.Lantratova discussed the negotiations with the Kiev administration and humanitarian diplomacy efforts during her meeting with Putin. She reported that all Kursk residents who were being held illegally in Ukraine have been rescued and have returned home.The Russian Ombudsman also mentioned the steps taken to bring the situation in Starobelsk to the agenda of the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Lantratova stated that she had written to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Human Rights Council, and the OSCE, and had received a response from the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.
