Europe Sizzles, Turkey on High Alert: Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen's Heatwave Warning
As Europe faces record-breaking temperatures, France, Spain, Italy, and the UK have issued high-level warnings. Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that temperatures in Turkey are above seasonal norms and that the heatwave's effects will be felt in July and August. The heatwave has impacted several European countries, disrupting daily life and forcing schools to suspend educational activities. Belgium declared a national heat alert, and the Belgian Railways cancelled several train services. Meteorology expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen explained that Turkey's temperatures are above June averages due to the omega effect, which has a lesser impact on the country compared to Europe. Prof. Dr. Şen warned that the real risk lies in the later summer months and that the heatwave is expected to hit in July and August. He also noted that El Nino is strong this year and highlighted the importance of global climate events.
