Claim of Worms in Food Ordered from Popeyes Goes Viral

A claim that a woman found worms in her food ordered from Popeyes in Istanbul, Turkey, has gone viral on social media. The woman said she ordered food for her child and found live worms in the meal when it arrived. She then went to the Popeyes branch and recorded a video of the worms. Popeyes has released a statement saying that the food was delivered to the customer at 12:02 PM and was returned to the restaurant approximately 6 hours later, at 6:19 PM. According to the company, this time frame is sufficient for the food to spoil if it is left in an open and uncontrolled environment. The company's statement also noted that the food is prepared from raw materials stored in a cold chain and cooked at a temperature of 177°C, which would kill any living organisms. The company has reviewed the security footage and found no evidence of a hygiene issue.
