New Era for Beaches: Ministry to Intervene Against Occupations

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change will oversee the maintenance, repair, security, and cleaning of coastal areas, with municipalities and local administrations also playing a role. The amendment to the regulation, published in the Official Gazette on August 9, 2026, aims to regulate coastal areas in accordance with the Coastal Law and related regulations. The Ministry's central organization, revolving fund management, and affiliated institutions will be able to lease these areas through a protocol. The regulation aims to ensure that coastal areas are used for the benefit of the public, prevent occupations, and promote more planned use of these areas.
