How Will the PKK Lay Down Arms and What is the Process?

The ‘National Solidarity and Social Integration Strengthening Bill’ to be discussed in the Turkish Parliament's Justice Commission, is considered a legal, judicial, and administrative mechanism to be applied after the dissolution of the terrorist organization and the surrender of arms.
According to the proposal, the process will be carried out with a multi-stage schedule, from official decisions to postponement of executions, from special council and commission audits to the removal of deprivation of rights.
The administrative and political follow-up of the process will be coordinated by a high-level structure. A Board will be established under the chairmanship of the Vice President of the Republic of Turkey; consisting of the Ministers of Justice, Foreign Affairs, Interior, National Defense, the Director of MIT, the Secretary General of the MGK, and the Secretary General of the Presidency.
The Board will be able to establish sub-commissions to carry out its duties in the field. For those who have completed their postponement period without any problems (2 years for 5-year postponements, 3 years for 10-year postponements), the Board may request the courts to lift their deprivation of rights.
