The 5.5 magnitude earthquake that struck the Andes mountain region of Peru has resulted in loss of life and widespread damage. According to a report by the US Geological Survey at 21:24 local time, the earthquake caused at least 5 deaths, with over 20 people injured. The disaster forced approximately 300 people to leave their homes. Following the earthquake, some buildings in the region were destroyed, while others suffered damage; a church and a monastery were among the affected structures.
