New Regulation in Retail Trade: Ministry of Trade Takes Action

The Ministry of Trade has prepared a new regulation draft to make retail trade fairer and more transparent. The purpose of this draft is to strengthen the supply chain and facilitate local trade. Additionally, increasing the economic value of women's labor is also a goal. The regulation draft has been submitted to the relevant institutions and organizations for their opinions. The draft aims to regulate the commercial relationships between producers, suppliers, and retail businesses to strengthen the supply chain.

Furthermore, the definitions of 'producer', 'supplier', and 'agricultural and food products that can spoil within 30 days' will be revised. In order to determine payment periods in commercial activities more quickly and accurately, a query screen will be created within the Ministry of Trade to facilitate SME detection processes. As 2025 has been declared the Year of Cooperatives, priority will be given to local products of cooperatives whose majority of partners are women, on the shelves of chain markets, in order to directly support women's labor and increase their contributions to economic life.

The Ministry of Trade also plans to implement regulations for large bakeries that produce bread in bulk. This aims to make bread available to citizens at more affordable prices.
