The White House has requested $67 billion in emergency funds from Congress to cover the costs of the war. However, the House of Representatives will go on a one-month vacation on Thursday. Therefore, a military funding agreement may not be possible until weeks later. The Navy and Air Force are particularly struggling. The operation funds for the 2026 fiscal year are expected to run out by the end of this month. The Pentagon is transferring funds from education, exercise, and maintenance budgets to cover the gap. Some exercises have been canceled, and Congress has been asked for a $4.3 billion reassignment permit.
