Pentagon Orders Acceleration of Arms Production Within 21 Days

The US Department of Defense has ordered defense industry companies to submit plans to accelerate arms production and delivery within 21 days. This request comes at a time when reports have been circulating about the depletion of US ammunition stocks. Pentagon Deputy Secretary Steve Feinberg asked defense industry executives to prepare plans that would "significantly accelerate delivery schedules for critical capabilities and increase production." Feinberg stated, "Years of development are unacceptable. We must now greatly accelerate our program schedules and expand our production capacity." The Pentagon's demand comes after reports have been published that the US has used a significant portion of its long-range and high-precision missiles. Armin Papperger, CEO of the German defense company Rheinmetall, stated that replenishing the depleted US ammunition stocks would take time.
