Pegasus Scandal: EU Parliament Member Targeted

The Israel-based Pegasus spyware infiltrated the phone of a European Parliament member, Stelios Kouloglou, who was investigating the Pegasus scandal, at least three times.According to a report by the Canada-based Citizen Lab, Kouloglou's mobile phone was compromised multiple times by the Pegasus spyware. Kouloglou stated, 'When you realize that your private life is being monitored by malicious individuals, you get angry. This issue is directly related to corruption, justice, and democracy.'The Pegasus software has been used worldwide for espionage activities such as intercepting phone calls, recording audio, tracking emails, and taking photos from phones without the users' knowledge.According to Citizen Lab, Kouloglou's phone was first compromised on October 21, 2022, which coincided with the period when the committee's first report was being prepared and work was intensifying.
