Tortured Sea Turtle Found Dead with Pavers Attached

A sea turtle was found dead in the Selçuk district of İzmir, with a paver attached to its fin. It is believed that the turtle was killed with a tool and then had a paver tied to its leg before being thrown into the sea.According to a statement from the Ekosistemi Koruma ve Doğa Severler Derneği (EKODOSD), a report was received about a dead turtle on the Pamucak Beach in the Selçuk district of İzmir. An investigation in the area revealed that the dead animal was a green sea turtle with a paver tied to its fin.The president of the association, Bahattin Sürücü, recalled that a similar incident occurred in Kuşadası on June 17, but that turtle was rescued by fishermen.

During our investigation, we found a deep cut on the animal's body. It was probably killed with a tool and then a paver was tied to its leg before being thrown into the sea. But the paver was too light, so it drifted back to the shore. This is an inhumane act, and we assume that the person who did this has no conscience or feelings.

Sürücü emphasized that the incident was inhumane.
