ÖSYM Explains 15-Minute Rule: Relaxing Rules Leads to Chaos

Following discussions about students who were late for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), ÖSYM made a statement. ÖSYM listed six reasons why the 15-minute rule cannot be relaxed.
The institution views not being allowed to take the exam as a result of the candidate's individual negligence, rather than a corporate punishment. In a massive organization with millions of participants, relaxing the rules disrupts order and directly leads to chaos.
The Public Monitoring Institution (KDK) suggested in 2017 that late candidates should be allowed to take the exam in spare or different rooms in the exam buildings. However, ÖSYM strongly opposes this proposal, citing potential security risks.
