Student Amnesty Published in Official Gazette: Who is Included?

The Law on Amendments to the Higher Education Law and Some Laws has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into force. The law includes important regulations on student amnesty and higher education. The periods spent by the members of the Higher Education Supervision Board in the Board will be considered as spent in their profession. Additionally, final-year students will be given two additional exams or retake opportunities for courses they failed or could not take. The student amnesty includes those whose connections have been cut off for any reason and those who have not registered despite gaining the right to register for a program. However, those convicted of terrorism, murder, torture, sexual assault, and those whose records have been canceled due to fake documents will not be able to benefit from this regulation. The military service deferments of those who start their education again will be made according to the relevant provisions of the Conscription Law. Also, professors who are 67 years old and experts can work contractually in a higher education institution if they apply.
