Nuclear Weapons Are the Only Deterrent Against Global War

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that global security is severely eroded and that nuclear deterrence is the only thing protecting the world from a global war.Peskov spoke at the 12th International 'Primakov Readings' Scientific Expertise Forum in Moscow. He emphasized that there are no mechanisms left for agreement in the global security architecture and that the UN Security Council needs reform, but no progress has been made in this area.Highlighting the inadequacy of international platforms in solving global security issues, Peskov underlined the structural crisis within the UN Security Council. Peskov also drew attention to technological advancements, predicting the emergence of new conventional weapons with destructive effects comparable to nuclear weapons in the near future.
