NATO Summit Protesters Released After Detention

The judicial process for the members of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) who were detained during the NATO Summit protests in Ankara has been completed. 118 party members were released, while 10 were placed under judicial control and 3 were released under house arrest.After the decision was announced, 5 people who were previously released for health reasons and 3 lawyers who completed their statements at the police station were also released. TKP Central Committee Member and soL Publication Coordinator Ali Ufuk Arikan stated that his party gave a collective, strong, intelligent, and organized response to those who claimed that no voice would be raised against NATO in this country.On the other hand, 5 TKP members who were detained in Kocaeli on July 5 during the NATO protests were also released after giving their statements to the prosecutor. Two of these individuals were placed under judicial control and banned from traveling abroad.
