Women Are More Trusted in Negotiations

Women Are More Trusted in Negotiations
People tend to prefer negotiating with women due to their perceived trustworthiness. A study by Cornell University found that women are more preferred in negotiations, and this preference makes a significant difference in the long run. The study involved a series of tests with over 2,400 participants in five separate studies. The results showed that women scored higher in terms of trust, fairness, communication, and listening skills. Additionally, despite similar financial outcomes, people were more likely to want to negotiate with female partners again. The researchers also tested whether this preference was due to the stereotype that “women are warmer”. When the same negotiation texts were presented to participants with different gender labels, the label change did not significantly affect the level of appreciation.
