Egypt and Palestine have welcomed Ireland's law banning the importation of products from illegal Jewish settlements in occupied Palestinian territory. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a statement regarding Ireland's decision. The statement expressed satisfaction with Ireland's completion of the constitutional and legal processes for the law banning the importation of products from illegal Israeli settlements, stating that this decision reflects a significant commitment to international law and international legitimacy. The statement called on European Union countries and the international community to take similar legal and practical measures, emphasizing that illegal settlements should not be supported directly or indirectly.

This decision demonstrates Ireland's commitment to the principles of international law and justice. Implementing international law is not just a political statement, but a real legal obligation for states to not recognize and not provide commercial, economic, or financial support to situations arising from illegal occupation and settlements.

The statement noted that achieving security and stability in the Middle East requires ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem within the borders of June 4, 1967, stating, 'Egypt reaffirms its firm position in support of the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.' There are 365 illegal settlements established on Palestinian land in the West Bank. The 'Kefar Etzion' Jewish settlement unit in the south of the West Bank is considered the first Jewish settlement unit, as it was established immediately after Israel's occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967.
