Egypt and Eritrea Unite on Red Sea Security Stance

Egypt and Eritrea have issued a joint statement emphasizing that the security of the Red Sea should be the responsibility of the coastal states alone. The two nations have taken a united stance against external actors imposing security arrangements on the region. The joint declaration by Egypt and Eritrea underscores that any future security mechanisms in the Red Sea must be established through the collective agreement of the coastal states. Egyptian Foreign Minister Bedr Abdullati stated that stability in the Horn of Africa is integral to Egypt's national security, and expressed support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of the countries in the region. The two countries also exchanged views on developments in Sudan and Somalia. Following the discussion, which included economic cooperation, it was decided to enhance collaboration in areas such as trade, infrastructure, port development, maritime transport, mining, fishing, pharmaceuticals, and housing.
