Major Operation in Menderes Municipality: President Cicek and 15 Suspects in Court

Recent developments in the Menderes district of Izmir have come to the fore with allegations of bribery and irregularities. As part of the investigation into Menderes Municipality, President Ilkay Cicek and 15 suspects were referred to court.A large-scale operation was carried out to uncover irregularities and corruption in Menderes Municipality. After the procedures of the suspects, who were detained by the gendarmerie teams, were completed, they were referred to the court.The investigation, conducted by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, found that permits were granted for profit, and irregularities were committed in construction permits and changes to the zoning status. It was also determined that crimes such as 'bribery', 'embezzlement', 'forgery of official documents', 'misuse of duty', and 'causing urban pollution' were committed in an organized manner.15 suspects, including Menderes Mayor Ilkay Cicek, were detained on August 4, while the Deputy Mayor R.S., who was wanted, was caught on August 5 with the support of MIT.It was stated that the operation is ongoing.
