Russia Develops Melanoma Skin Cancer Vaccine: 20 Patients to be Vaccinated by Year-End

A new mRNA vaccine for the treatment of melanoma skin cancer has been developed in Russia. The 'Neooncovac' vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Center, is planned to be administered to 20 patients by the end of the year. Aleksandr Gintsburg, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Scientific Director of the Gamaleya National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, stated that 20 patients are expected to receive the vaccine by the end of the year. The vaccine is personalized for each patient based on their own tumor mutations. In April, a personalized tumor-specific mRNA vaccine was administered to a skin melanoma patient for the first time at the National Medical Radiological Research Center of the Russian Ministry of Health. The vaccine project was implemented through the cooperation between the National Medical Radiological Research Center of the Russian Ministry of Health and the Gamaleya National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health.
