Four Migrants Die as Boat Sinks in English Channel
Four migrants have lost their lives in two separate incidents in the English Channel, as they attempted to cross from France to the UK. According to French authorities, these incidents demonstrate how human traffickers are putting people at greater risk every day. On Wednesday night, one person was found dead after a boat sank off the coast of Hardelot, while three more bodies were recovered near Dunkirk. These events occurred during attempted irregular crossings from France to the UK and highlight the increasing number of migrants trying to cross the English Channel in small boats. As of 2025, 6,177 migrants have been rescued off the French coast. In 2025, at least 29 migrants have lost their lives in the English Channel, with the average number of migrants per boat rising to 65. This year, 10 boats have been reported to be carrying over 100 migrants each.
