Mamdani: Netanyahu's Place is in The Hague, He is a War Criminal
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani commented on the possibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu being arrested if he comes to New York for the United Nations General Assembly meetings in September. Mamdani stated in an interview with The New York Times that they will act within the powers granted by New York City laws, but will not write their own laws for this purpose. Regarding the possibility of Netanyahu's arrest, Mamdani said, 'I think Netanyahu's place is in The Hague. He is a war criminal accused by the ICC.' The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on November 21, 2024, for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. When asked about what the laws permit or do not permit, Mamdani replied, 'We are still consulting with our legal team on this matter.'
