A magnitude 5 earthquake struck Malatya's Battalgazi district in the morning, also felt in neighboring provinces including Elazığ, Adıyaman, Tunceli, and Şanlıurfa. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the earthquake, with its epicenter in Battalgazi, occurred at 06:20. The tremor, which occurred at a depth of 15.59 kilometers, was also felt in many surrounding provinces. Initial assessments indicated that there were no casualties or damage from the earthquake. Field inspections by teams in the region are ongoing. According to AFAD's statement, the earthquake in Malatya was also felt in surrounding provinces, primarily Elazığ, Adıyaman, Tunceli, and Şanlıurfa. The institution stated, 'As of now, there is no negative situation following the magnitude 5 earthquake in our Malatya province's Battalgazi district at 06:20. Field scanning efforts are continuing.' Malatya Governor Seddar Yavuz reported that teams were quickly dispatched to the scene after the earthquake and that no negative reports were received during the initial inspections.
