Maduro and His Wife to Stand Trial

Former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores are set to face trial over drug trafficking allegations next June. In a New York courtroom, Maduro appeared before a judge, wearing beige prison attire and greeting onlookers with an English 'good morning'. During the brief hearing, Maduro seemed at ease with his lawyers, even exchanging smiles and shaking hands. Judge Alvin Hellerstein set the trial date for June 1, 2027.
