New Mechanism to Monitor Ceasefire in Lebanon

The US has established a new monitoring mechanism to maintain the ceasefire in Lebanon. The mechanism, set up by the US Central Command (CENTCOM), will be able to monitor the conflict situation in Lebanon in real-time. A US official stated that the purpose of the mechanism is to end violence. The official said that the application will enable the developments on the ground to be followed instantly. This step was taken after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's phone calls with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Avn. The US supports Israel and Lebanon holding talks as two sovereign states. It was stated that the contacts will continue with the aim of reaching a comprehensive peace and security agreement between the two countries.
