Lebanese Prime Minister Salam: The Agreement Aims to End Israeli Occupation

Lebanese Prime Minister Nevaf Salam explained the main objective of the agreement reached with Israel under the mediation of the US. Salam stated that the agreement aims to end the Israeli occupation, re-establish Lebanese state sovereignty, and ensure the return of displaced citizens to their homes. The agreement also aims to re-establish state authority in the occupied areas and ensure the safe return of civilians who were forced to flee their homes due to conflicts.Salam recalled that the principle of the Lebanese state's armed forces ensuring full sovereignty over its territory was also included in the Taif Agreement, UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and the 2024 agreement. Salam expressed his hope for the day when the Israeli forces will withdraw and the displaced people will return to their homes, and the reconstruction process will begin, and thanked the US and Arab countries for their contribution to the agreement.
