London Heat Wave: An Ironic Cancellation
The event titled 'Extreme Heat: Enhancing Global Governance and Empowering Action' scheduled as part of London Climate Action Week was ironically canceled due to extreme heat. The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) announced the cancellation of the event, which was to take place at the Shaw Library. The decision was made after the UK Meteorological Office (Met Office) issued a red-coded extreme heat warning. At the event, experts were to discuss the management of extreme heat globally, climate-related risks, existing challenges, and proposed solutions. The heat wave that has been affecting the country since Sunday has intensified in recent days.Due to the extreme heat, many metro and train services have been canceled or delayed since Tuesday, and authorities have warned citizens not to travel unless necessary. The Meteorological Office stated that temperatures in many parts of the UK reached 37 degrees on Wednesday and could reach 38 degrees on Thursday and Friday.
