LGS Preference Process Has Started: Pay Attention to Percentile

The application process for the High School Entrance System (LGS) has started today, following the announcement of the central exam results. The preference process will end on July 27. Candidates will make their preferences in three groups: 'schools that accept students based on central exam scores', 'schools that accept students based on local placement', and 'boarding schools'. The high school preference process, which started today and will be carried out through the e-School system, will continue until 17:00 on July 27. A total of 198,899 students will be placed in schools that accept students based on central exam scores. 60,886 students will be placed in Anatolian high schools, 38,700 in science high schools, 9,210 in social sciences high schools, 43,706 in Anatolian imam hatip high schools, and 46,397 in vocational and technical Anatolian high schools. Placement based on central exam scores will be made according to the preferences of the students, taking into account the central exam scores of the schools that accept students based on exams, science high schools, social sciences high schools, project schools, and vocational and technical Anatolian high schools. Students will be able to make preferences for up to 10 schools from the list of schools that accept students based on exams. In the event of equal central exam scores in schools that accept students based on exams, placement will be made based on the School Success Point (OBP), the Year-End Success Point (YBP) of the 8th, 7th, and 6th grades, the number of unexcused absences in the 8th grade, the order of preference, and the student's age.

Students should consider the percentile when making their preferences, as scores can vary from year to year. Let's say the first three preferences are the lion that the student has in mind. A student in the 3% percentile can start their preferences from 2% or 2.5%. The next four or five preferences can be places that are slightly above or below the student's percentile. The next two or three preferences can be school types where the student will not be left out, will not regret winning, and will feel guaranteed.

Local placement processes will be carried out based on the students' addresses, school success points, and the number of unexcused absences, in the order of the school type, quota, and location, as determined by the provincial and district directorates of national education.
