Lavrov Responds to Rubio on Anchorage Agreements: It’s Clear Who Failed

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov responded to US Senator Marco Rubio’s claims that the Anchorage agreements have failed, stating that it is necessary to question who actually failed in the process. Lavrov emphasized that Russia has always been faithful to its commitments and agreements.

We went to Anchorage with proposals previously communicated by the US and personally approved by President Trump. As President Putin also recently emphasized at a press conference, we accepted these proposals for consideration.

He also highlighted the logic of the diplomatic process, saying

I reveal no great secret; President Trump has repeatedly stated, including in Anchorage, that this proposal belongs to them and has a partially conciliatory nature. We accepted this proposal for reconciliation.
