Lavrov: The West Tries to Justify the Kiev Regime

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric, in Moscow. During the meeting, Lavrov responded to the policies pursued by Western countries over the Ukrainian crisis, stating

Western countries are trying to justify and protect the Kiev regime, which grossly violates humanitarian law and commits crimes against humanity every day. These efforts are particularly evident in the context of the Ukrainian crisis.

Lavrov emphasized that it is more important than ever for the Red Cross to maintain its independence under current conditions.Lavrov expressed that Russia supports the strengthening of the ICRC based on the principles of 'independence' and 'impartiality' that have been the foundation of the organization since its establishment. He also stated that Russia will continue to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law, despite everything. ICRC President Spoljaric also emphasized the organization's mission of neutrality and said

The ICRC is a neutral organization. We will help civilians and all victims caught in the midst of conflicts. In the context of this conflict, we will do everything we can to alleviate the suffering of families in both Russia and Ukraine.
