Lavrov Criticizes US Over Alaska Talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov responded to his US counterpart's comments on the Alaska talks. Lavrov stated that Moscow accepted the proposals presented by the US.

When my colleague Rubio says that there were only proposals in Alaska and no agreement was reached, I wonder what he means by 'agreement'. If one side – in this case, the US – puts forward proposals and the second side declares that it agrees with them, it's not very polite to say that there is no agreement.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reacted to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statement that 'the parties did not reach a final agreement in the August 2025 meeting'. Lavrov said, 'If the US made a proposal and we accepted it, it's not very polite to say there was no agreement.' Lavrov recalled that White House Special Representative Steve Witkoff visited Moscow and brought the solution plan. Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined the four pillars for potential negotiations with the Kiev administration during a meeting with government members.
