Customs Duty on Dried Onions Reduced to 5% Until August 31

The Ministry of Trade announced that the customs duty on dried onions will be temporarily reduced to 5% until August 31 to ensure supply security and price stability.The Ministry stated that necessary measures have been taken in a timely manner to ensure supply security in basic food products and to meet the country's needs through the encouragement of local production.

For dried onions, which are a basic food product, the customs duty has been temporarily rearranged to 5% until August 31, in order to ensure supply security and meet consumer needs at an appropriate price, thereby providing relief to the market.

Following evaluations made in close coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, it was reported that the harvest of dried onions is progressing gradually in producer regions due to this year's extreme rainfall and other adverse climatic conditions.It was noted that the application aims to protect local production, and as the new season's products will heavily enter the market, the customs duty of 49.5% on onion imports will continue to be applied from September 1, when the domestic market balance is expected to be re-established.
