US Expands Sanctions Against Cuba
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced a new set of sanctions against the Cuban government. Five entities that generate revenue for the Cuban government have been added to the sanctions list, including three entities linked to Grupo de Administracion Empresarial S.A. (GAESA), which was previously sanctioned, and a member of the Castro family. Rubio emphasized that GAESA continues to serve as the financial backbone of Cuba's security apparatus.

Today, I am adding five Cuban entities that generate revenue for the Cuban regime to the sanctions list. These include three entities linked to Grupo de Administracoón Empresarial S.A. (GAESA), which was previously sanctioned, and a member of the Castro family.

He stated that two of the sanctioned entities are financial institutions involved in money transfers on behalf of the regime, while another is a logistics company linked to GAESA. Additionally, two more entities that generate revenue through the exploitation of Cuba's mineral and metal reserves have been added to the sanctions list. The spouse of Alejandro Castro Espin, who was previously sanctioned, has also been added to the list. Rubio stated that these entities and individuals finance, facilitate, or benefit from the regime's malicious activities in Cuba and throughout the hemisphere.
