Cuban President Denounces US 'Political Genocide'

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel criticized the US petrol embargo and tightened sanctions, labeling the US administration's policies as 'political genocide'. Diaz-Canel stated, 'They are not only looking for a scapegoat, an external culprit, but also trying to find a culprit for the protests of the most affected sectors of an economy that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.'The country is experiencing prolonged power outages and fuel shortages, while Diaz-Canel's speech was part of the official celebrations marking the 73rd anniversary of the first attack by Fidel Castro's guerrillas against the US-backed leader Fulgencio Batista's army in 1953.

Let Cuba live in peace. Also, let the most honorable parts of the American people, who have historically fought for the human rights of other peoples without expecting anything in return, often subjected to repression, imprisonment, and risking their lives, live in peace. Cuba is not a threat to the US or any other country in the world.

Diaz-Canel called for an end to the sanctions and oil embargo in his speech, thanking international organizations that have sent humanitarian aid and materials to the island.Against Washington, which attributes the economic crisis in Cuba to the government's poor economic management and insufficient investment in outdated infrastructure, Diaz-Canel said, 'They are looking for a new excuse to continue the political genocide against Cuba.'
