The Fall of Konstantinovka: Russian Advance and Ukraine's Defense Lines

The French news agency AFP published an analysis of the importance of Konstantinovka, which has come under the control of the Russian army, in the Donbass conflict zone. The analysis emphasizes that the strategic city is a gateway to the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, which is under Ukrainian control, and states that “Konstantinovka is one of the last lines of defense on the way to these major cities.”
AFP describes the city as a "strategic stronghold" for the Kiev forces, and notes that the fall of Konstantinovka means the opening of the route to the last major settlements held by the Ukrainian army in Donbass. The French newspaper Le Parisien also pointed out that the city is a "key city" and evaluated its loss as a "very significant gap" in Ukraine's overall defense line.
Russian General Staff Chief Valeriy Gerasimov reported to President Vladimir Putin on Friday that Konstantinovka had come under complete Russian control. Putin described this development as the "key to the liberation of the entire Donetsk People's Republic" and stated that it opens a "direct path" for advancement towards Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.
